Precautions For Using A Steel Bar Bending Machine

When using a steel bar bending machine, it is essential to strictly follow the operating procedures to ensure both equipment safety and operator safety, while also maintaining processing quality. The following are specific precautions:

Preparations Before Operation

Equipment Inspection

  • Check whether all parts of the machine are in good condition and whether the connecting bolts-especially critical components such as the bending die and transmission shaft-are tightened. Loose parts can cause processing deviations or equipment damage.
  • Inspect the electrical system: ensure there are no damaged wires, electrical leaks, and confirm that the grounding is secure. Make sure all buttons and switches are responsive and functional.
  • Examine the lubrication system. Add lubricating oil as specified in the manual to ensure gears, bearings, and other moving parts are properly lubricated to reduce wear.
  • Ensure that the bending die matches the specifications of the steel bars to be processed, and that it is securely installed to prevent slippage or jamming.

Site and Environment

  • The operation area must be clean, dry, and free of oil or debris to prevent slips or trips.
  • Raw steel bars should be stacked neatly and kept away from the operating area to avoid collisions or interference.
  • Adequate lighting should be provided in the workspace to ensure clear visibility and accuracy during operation.

Personnel Preparation

  • Operators must receive professional training and be familiar with the equipment and operating procedures. Unauthorized or untrained personnel are strictly prohibited from operating the machine.
  • Operators must wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety helmets, non-slip shoes, and protective gloves (to prevent cuts or pinching injuries). Long hair should be tied up, and work caps should be worn. Loose clothing or accessories such as necklaces or bracelets are not allo wed, as they could get caught in the machine.

Operating Procedures

Trial Operation

Before starting, perform a no-load test run to check for abnormal noise, vibration, or jamming. Only proceed with processing once all functions-including start, stop, and emergency stop-are confirmed to be working correctly.

Steel Bar Placement and Fixation

  • Remove rust, oil, or other impurities from the steel bar surface to maintain bending precision and prevent mold damage.
  • When placing the steel bar in the mold, make sure it touches the positioning device at the front. Keep both hands at a safe distance, and never touch the rotating mold or the bent section during operation.
  • For long steel bars, assistance is required. Two operators should coordinate to avoid shaking or tipping, which can cause injuries. One person should not forcibly handle oversized bars alone.

Setting Processing Parameters

  • Set parameters such as bending speed and angle based on the diameter and bending radius of the reinforcing bars. Do not exceed machine specifications (e.g., avoid using small molds to process thick bars), as this may cause overload or bar breakage.
  • If adjustments to parameters or molds are needed during processing, stop the machine completely before making any changes. Adjustments while the machine is running are strictly prohibited.

Real-time Monitoring and Emergency Response

  • Monitor the equipment and steel bar deformation during processing. If unusual noises, sparks, or irregular bends occur, immediately press the emergency stop button and inspect the machine. Resume only after resolving the issue.
  • Do not touch bent sections of the steel bar or attempt to use tools during operation. If a bar becomes stuck, stop the machine before manually removing the obstruction.

After-Operation Procedures

Shutdown and Cleaning

  • After processing is complete, turn off the power and wait for the machine to come to a complete stop. Then clean the surface of the machine and the mold, removing iron filings and debris.
  • Organize the processed steel bars neatly, remove waste materials from the site, and restore a clean working area.
  • Equipment Maintenance
  • Perform daily maintenance: wipe down moving parts, check for loose connections, refill lubricants, and clean the electrical components.
  • If the machine will not be used for a long period, disconnect the power and cover the machine to prevent moisture and rust.

Other Prohibited Actions

  • Operating the machine beyond its rated capacity is strictly forbidden, as it may cause motor overload or fatigue damage to components.
  • Maintenance, repairs, or mold adjustments must not be carried out while the machine is running.
  • Do not process steel bars that fall outside the machine's specifications (e.g., overly hard or brittle materials), as they may break and cause injury.
  • During severe weather such as thunderstorms, disconnect the machine from the power source to avoid damage to the electrical system.
