Equipment Essence: The "Integrated Forming Hub" for Steel Bar Processing

The sawing, threading, and grinding production line (also known as the steel bar threading production line or integrated steel bar processing equipment) is a fully automated system that integrates fixed-length sawing, thread threading, end grinding, and finished product collection. Its core function is to process straight steel bars into standardized components with precise threads through the coordinated operation of multiple processes, addressing the pain points of low precision, poor efficiency, and fragmented procedures in traditional manual processing. The processing range covers mainstream construction steel bars such as HRB400 and HRB500 with diameters from 12mm to 50mm. Thread accuracy can reach grade 6H, in compliance with the GB/T 1499.3-2010 standard.

Technical Core: Integrated Operation of Five Coordinated Systems

The sawing, threading, and grinding production line operates through a closed-loop process of "feeding – sawing – threading – grinding – discharging." Its operation relies on the precise coordination of five major systems: mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, sensing, and control. The technical principle can be broken down into the following key stages:

  • Core Construction System

The modern production line consists of six functional modules, with connection errors controlled within ±0.5mm.

Feeding and Conveying System: Comprising an active feeding roller driven by a servo motor and a guide frame, equipped with a high-precision encoder (resolution 0.01mm), it delivers steel bars precisely according to preset lengths (500–12000mm). For extra-long steel bars (>12m), an auxiliary support roller track is required to prevent deflection and deformation.

Precision Sawing System: Uses hydraulic clamping and alloy saw blade cutting. The saw blade speed is adjustable through a frequency conversion system (500–1500 rpm), matched to the bar diameter (e.g., φ25 at 80mm/min, φ40 at 50mm/min). The verticality error of the cut is ≤0.3mm/m.

Threading System: Includes an automatic feeding mechanism, threading spindle, and replaceable taps. Tap specifications (e.g., M16, M20) are automatically selected based on the bar diameter. Threading speed reaches 200–400 rpm, with thread profile fullness ≥95%.

End Grinding System: Consists of a grinding wheel head and positioning mechanism. It performs 360° grinding on burrs and flash at the steel bar ends after threading. Grinding accuracy is adjustable (surface roughness Ra≤1.6μm), ensuring a tight fit when bars are connected.

Intelligent Control System: Based on PLC with a touch screen interface, capable of storing over 500 processing parameters (bar diameter, length, thread specifications, etc.). It supports data integration with BIM and MES systems, enabling automatic task assignment and real-time monitoring.

Finished Product Collection System: Uses inclined racks for the natural sliding and collection of finished products.

  • Working Principle and Process Flow

The processing sequence follows the logic of "precise positioning – staged processing – real-time detection," with each step supported by sensor feedback:

Parameter Input and Feeding: The operator enters parameters such as bar diameter (e.g., φ32), length (e.g., 3000mm), and thread specification (e.g., M28×3) via the touch screen. The feeding system delivers the bar into the line, while the guide frame corrects straightness (error ≤0.3mm/m).

Fixed-Length Sawing: At the set length, the hydraulic clamp (clamping force ≥50MPa) secures the bar, and the alloy saw blade cuts at the programmed speed. A spray system applies coolant during cutting to reduce blade temperature and dust generation.

Automatic Threading: The cut sections move to the threading station. The positioning pin secures the bar end. The threading spindle drives the tap, while sensors monitor torque in real time. For harder steels (e.g., HRB500E), the feed speed is automatically adjusted.

End Grinding: After threading, the bar section enters the grinding station. The grinding head operates at a preset pressure (0.2–0.5MPa) for 3–8 seconds. A photoelectric sensor then checks smoothness.

Core Principles for Safe Operation

Pre-Job Preparation: Keep a 1.5m debris-free area around the equipment. Grounding resistance should not exceed 4Ω. Check saw blade wear (replace if >2mm) and coolant level (must be above the minimum line).

Operating Prohibitions: Do not process steel bars outside the rated diameter range. Do not run the machine without protective covers. Do not touch the electrical panel with wet hands. Non-operating personnel must stay clear.

Special Conditions: When processing HRB500E bars, reduce threading speed by 15%. In cold environments, preheat the hydraulic system for 10 minutes to prevent jamming.

Emergency Response: In case of jamming, press the emergency stop, cut off the main power, then clear material. If the saw blade breaks, stop immediately and replace it only after full rotation has ceased.

Key Points of Maintenance Management

Daily Inspection: Check feeding roller wear, hydraulic oil pressure, coolant concentration, and clean filings at the sawing station.

Regular Maintenance: Weekly lubrication of transmission chain and encoder calibration. Monthly replacement of hydraulic oil filter and inspection of taps. Quarterly coolant replacement and saw blade runout check.

Service Life Management: Maintain a ledger for consumables (saw blades ~5,000 cuts; taps ~3,000 threads). Stock spares in advance to prevent downtime.

Recordkeeping: Document daily production, scrap rates, fault causes, and other data to build a full life cycle archive for maintenance and optimization.
